There really is nothing else like these forests on Earth. I have travelled quite a bit, and I will tell you, when you step into these ancient forests of giants that remain on the west coast (on the scale of a watershed) you are enveloped with a deep remembrance, healing, and knowing that is not attainable via any other means.
If I was capable of trading my life to protect these last few elders I would do it in a heartbeat.

Yes. I grew up on Vancouver island, in the forests of cathedral grove and the ancients that live there. I have been having nightmares around what is going on at Fairy Creek. Literal nightmares. I was going to write an article on the guilt I carry and the helplessness I feel. I don’t know what to do. I feel hatred and frustration. I feel both responsible and powerless. I work closely with cedar, it is a plant medicine I use to create tinctures and I have been in relationship with it since I was a young child. I don’t known what to do, or where to start. My heart broke when they destroyed the elder lodge, I cannot fathom the greed and ignorance and I have followed your account very closely.
CBC goverment propaganda where the psyops “reporters” that have never been in the ancient forest and care more about GNP and obeying corrupt laws than preserving the ancient forests (they falsely give the idea that part of Fairy Creek was already cut so there is no point in trying to protect it now).
I grew up in Whistler but my grandparents had a bed and breakfast on Galiano Island called The Pink Geranium so I visited the gulf islands and Vancouver island often as a kid. My granny and granddad were among those that got arrested protecting the Clayoquot Sound (at age 65) so we spent a lot of time in Cathedral Grove, kayaking by Tofino (and camping out on long beech before they made all the rules ).

What is happening in Walbran is disgusting and heartbreaking but Fairy Creek is a separate valley (and contrary to what the government funded propaganda in the news will tell you) the entire ancient forest watershed in the Fairy creek valley is still intact as of now. I’ll go dig up the recent sat images and notes I shared with Max Wilbert and share here so you can see what I mean visually.
I would never presume to tell anyone else what they should be doing with regards to defending their local ancient forests against greedy corporate goons, tribal sell outs and government collaborators but I will say that I highly encourage you to take action to fully witness the last ancient forest valley that is intact on the scale of a watershed (the core of Fairy Creek) in person.
If you have not hiked into the center of that valley yet, make it happen before next summer, get someone to go with you as a guide and honor the beings there by being in their midst and expressing your gratitude to them for the gifts they share. If you do that , no matter what happens you can carry the spirit and memory of Fairy Creek in your heart and mind, share it with others and become a living antidote for generational amnesia (shifting baseline syndrome).
The extended deferral court order that forced the logging corporations to hold off on clearcutting Fairy Creek expires in September of 2026, so after that, all bets are off.
I will likely be creating a short coffee table style book and a calendar with photos I captured in the heart of Fairy Creek to raise awareness about protecting the valley in the next couple months, so if and when I have that ready I would be grateful with your help getting the word out.
Guilt is a wasted emotion and while I am grateful for your caring so deeply I humbly suggest transmuting any guilt or anger into fierce love and determination to (at the very least) get in there to be present and forge an in person connection with the beings in the core of that valley while they are still there in their prestine, ancient and majestic state as The Creator intended them to be.
Thank you for sharing your love with our Mother Earth and giving your time and attention to what is happening in the last of the ancient forest valleys where you live.

Hi Elly, I know how you feel as I was raised to believe this nationstate is one of kindness, fairness and integrity.
Sadly, what I have come to discover is that when it comes to the government of Canada (and their enforcers) that rosy picture of the “polite and nice Canadian government” is nothing more than the result of very effective and prolific propaganda hiding the truth. And the truth is, the government here was built on violence, genocide, land theft, industrial pillaging of ecosystems, colonialism and duplicity , and despite the “reconciliation” and “sustainable”/“green” PR we hear about on the news, this government is still very much guided by those immoral and nefarious methods and goals. It is their modus operendi.

All nuclear fission based nuclear facilities are nothing more than over glorified steam turbines that produce endless radioactive waste as far as I am concerned.
Here in Canada the government invaded and stole land from indigenous people north of me to build uranium mines for nuclear reactors decades ago. They poisoned the rivers and water table and now those communities have had the longest running “unsafe to drink” tap water advisory in Canadian history (over 25 years). More recently they tried to do it again but the Inuit people of the far north fought , resisted and prevented the mines going forward (I have a book about their resistance , I’ll send you a pic in a note).

It hurts my heart too sister, but perhaps as authors like Martín Pretchel and Charles Eisenstein have expressed, through fully feeling the grief of these losses we become capable of loving what is left more deeply and are thus more motivated to choose actions that are even more life affronting and courageous going forward.

Ahh, yes. I've done a lot of work around grief. When you're an empath, it's really, really necessary. I commented on my last post about healing and how I feel like we need to move beyond always being stuck in a "needing healing" mindset. We are healing, and we are healed.
Also, I remember Sandra Ingerman telling us once during shamanism studies not to have "pity energy" for others, for the planet, etc. That always stuck with me. And so I always try to picture another person, animal, plant, or a place in perfect health, rather than being stuck in grief. It doesn't help anyone or any place. I have a lot of Sagittarius in my chart, and it is a very optimistic sign, and I am grateful for that. It makes it a bit easier not to get stuck in grief.

Does it makes sense to you, that here in Western WA, not far from BC, in the beginning of WINTER, because it does rain a lot here, but... it hasn't rained THAT much! And there's snow ON the mountains (sometimes all year, like Mt. Rainier (Tahoma),) but what would make it all melt right now? It just FEELS like something fishy is going on. The water that raised the Green River so high... not far away from where I live... is almost ORANGE. I'm just not educated in these things, but it FEELS ... suspicious.

I personally do not have any faith in governments to do the right thing of their own volition and I put the message from the Fairy Creek/Walbran blockade page there (regarding emailing/calling the politicians) out of respect for them (as they still believe in that avenue to defend the sacred along with peaceful physical resistance). Though if enough pressure is brought to bear on these corrupt politicians (that feign how “green” and “sustainable” they are ostensibly) and it becomes really bad press for them with increased awareness about the duplicity, nefarious nature and overtly ecocidal nature of ancient forest clearcut logging operations , they have been forced to halt / or delay the operations in the past.
So maybe the emails will help who knows, one thing I do know for sure is what once people are educated on the realty of how rare these millennia old temperate rainforest watersheds are and what is being done to them not out of need but for greed 95% of people are opposed to these operations in Canada. So it is more of a lack of awarensss problem, getting past the propaganda and remedying ignorance than it is a lack of will power problem. That is why I share posts like this as the people profiting from destroying these last few ancient forests (when there is so much second growth plantations for our wood needs) are parasites that can only succeed when they operate in the darkness. Once people see what they are doing overwhelming pressure is brought on them through the spotlight illuminating their depravity and the operations stop.
So thank you for helping me in shining a spotlight onto these cockroaches so that they flee into the dark corners again, in doing so by sharing this you do a sacred service for our human family and the living earth.

That is why I share posts like this as the people profiting from destroying these last few ancient forests (when there is so much second growth plantations for our wood needs) are parasites that can only succeed when they operate in the darkness. Once people see what they are doing overwhelming pressure is brought on them through the spotlight illuminating their depravity and the operations stop.
So thank you for helping me in shining a spotlight onto these cockroaches so that they flee into the dark corners again, in doing so by sharing this you do a sacred service for our human family and the living earth.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am praying for the brave protectors standing up for our forest brethren and sistren. I will donate what I can. I am with you all in spirit, even though I can't be there physically.

I think there are TONS of people who care, and who also feel helpless, so they don't comment. There are a LOT of people who are silent but who WOULD help if they thought they COULD help.
