Absolutely breathtaking. I have no words but thank you for sharing. What a gift to have experienced that trip.

Thank-you so much for making this article, as well as your other articles. Beautiful! I live in the Highlands on Vancouver Island, very much the same as the rain forest I lived near in Costa Rica (but cooler). I love living here! I invite you to read this book, "Green Blood Rising" by local author Lea Tassie. I will look for a copy, I had copies but I think I already gave them away. She gave me a few when she did an interview on our (now defunct) local community TV show. Here is the epigraph:

«There is a close similarity between chlorophyll and hemoglobin, the essence of our blood. So that you may lay your hand upon the smooth flank of a beech and say, "We be of one blood, brother, thou and I." The one significant difference in the two structural formulas is this: that the hub of every hemoglobin molecule is one atom of iron, while in chlorophyll it is one atom of magnesium.

All the children of the earth, the red-blooded and green-blooded equally, are descendant from some common origin, that may be as old as light, and, like light, is forever arriving. (From Flowering Earth, by Donald Culross Peattie)»
