love this article and Thoreau words.

Thoreau was one of my earliest influences as a teenager even before I ever really understand anarchism/voluntaryism. Great post!

I wish I was reading Thoreau in my teenage years. Could have given me a wake up call to intellectually think about those things a decade earlier than I did. At that stage in my life I was more into spending time in the wilderness to get away from all noise of statism and modern industrial civilization (which intuitively just felt "wrong" to me).

It is not surprising you were reading Thoreau early on in life considering how ahead of the curve you have been compared to many. I became aware of your work through James Corbett maybe 5 years back and I was impressed that you not only called out the scam of taxation/involuntary government but also invited people to consider how our choices impact the living earth we all depend on. That was something I did not (and still do not) see many anarchists or voluntaryists discussing

You and Miriam are essentially putting exactly what I advocate at the end of the post above into action via The Conscious Agora, so thank you for trail blazing in that way as exemplars. And thank you for holding space for compassion for our non human kin in your community as well, that cannot be easy, but it is a noble and worthy endeavor.

I appreciate you reading the post and the thoughtful comment. Keep up the great work brother.

Seems usual that people with property will tolerate the government that lets them keep their property, ( or grab more). and people without property will go for the government that promises to redistribute “free stuff” to them.

Guerilla gardening is cool no matter what.

Ah yes, I have cross paths with the Stockholm Syndrome suffering, self interested, anthropocentric, opportunistic criminal cartel cheerleading types you describe here.

They often end up having to learn the hard way that the same armed thugs and organized criminals (statist government) which may coincidentally take actions aligned with the individual’s selfish gain in one instance, will just as quickly turn the jack booted thugs on them if they happen to get in the way of statist imperialism, profiteering and extractivism in the future.

Cheering for a group of violent group of armed thieving criminals (government) to engage in oppression or dispossession of others for one’s selfish gain is a morally duplicitous, spiritually impoverished and unwise choice which illuminates the maturity of the culture such parasites spring forth from.

Here in Canada, the imperialistic gang of colonial thugs called the Canadian government has a legal weapon called “eminent domain”. When your property gets in the way of government profteering and ecocidal exploitation of the earth they use that judicial weapon to legalize land theft and unleash militarized jackbooted thugs to forcibly remove you from your property so it can be bulldozed if you resist.

They did it to a friend of mine on highway 401 on the way to Windsor, court order was delivered with an eminent domain notice, the government decided they were taking half of his yard and turning it into an extra lane for the highway. They chopped down his fruit and nut trees and stole half his property using their “we gave you market value” excuse as a justification for their violent theft and industrial imperialism.

For more information on the jackbooted thugs that our local statist crime syndicate (the Canadian Government) uses to enforce its edicts, watch:

It doesn’t matter what color your skin is anymore either, they don’t just steal indigenous people’s land at gun point in Canada anymore, they’ll crush and silence anyone that gets in the way of industrial colonialism. Some ignorant and selfish people that identity as “white” here see how the government operates as a racketeering operation but they think they’ll are safe due to genetic lineage. They are mistaken, we are all “indians” in the way of the "manifest destiny" of the oligarchs running our governments now.

For more info on the continuity of colonialism in Canada and how people with different genetic lineages are being manipulated by a systemically corrupt government to turn on each other while the government pillages both of them and the land, read:

Yaaaa, it’s all been done before. Endless cycles of pitting people against each other so that a relatively small cadre can parasitize.

It’s amazing how many people are so easily recruited for the efforts.

It seems that this information age has brought about increased transparency concerning the machinations.

Gavin Mounsey's avatar

Increased transparency perhaps, but also increasingly sophisticated brainwashing techniques, so it’s kind of a double edged sword.

Just look at how many people were convinced to allow some stranger in a parking lot inject their body with a mystery genetic cocktail manufactured by corporations with a felony criminal record of fraud (because mommy and daddy government said so on the tv and on their smart phone screen).

People can both use the information in the digital sphere to empower themselves if they have discernment , or they can blindly trust “official authority” sources and be totally hoodwinked by info in the digital sphere.

And now with people turning to LLMs and chatbots as “experts” to tell them what is true and what is not there is an added degree of susceptibility to psychological warfare operations.

Understanding a lot about the jab contents stopped me from taking or administering it. There's going to be a need for people to refuse a lot more jabs in order to encourage reform of this system.

Yes, the speed of the information firehose will overwhelm many.

And the LLM increases the speed but not the accuracy.

Too much LLM use will put the brain to sleep, and further impair judgement. So it needs to be kept in its lane.

I'd review and label where ever AI is used, same as when ever I quote another person or use their pic. And write my own stuff.

I needed that, thank you. Yes, be ungovernable and grow food. We have a forest garden; it feeds us and friends very well. It keeps me wild and healthy.

Gavin Mounsey's avatar

My pleasure Christine! And that is beautiful that you guys are rewilding the land and letting the land rewild your hearts and minds.

Tending the land and watching trees grow that you planted shifts one's loyalty in the direction of our ancestor's animistic priorities and ethical compass, for it invites us to recognize the sacred worth of the non-human beings we depend on to survive an thrive through working closely with them. It cultivates not just food, but also the seeds for a bioregional consciousness and love for the earth.

This is a potent medicine and one that I hope to be able to provide many in community food forest projects in the future.
