Since we can easily grow our own food, in sufficient quantities to thrive (starches like potatoes, rices, etc),combined with foraging for foods, I have to wonder why do people believe that animals have to die for us to eat them?

How can a person have empathy to animals, if we simply look at them as food? They have never consented to be killed, with full knowledge of our intent. A healthy animal would resist death, as any human would/should as well.

How can a person have empathy to the trees, if we think that cutting these down for our wood for our houses is acceptable? Rammed earth housing easily provides the alternative to wood stick houses.

How can a person have empathy to water (structure water for example) if we believe it is only for our human use? Only for our factories, for our waste, for our contamination?
