I have not been to the Netherlands but I am familiar with several species of pines and spruce that are endemic to Europe. Do you know what species of pine are growing in the area of the Netherlands you are wondering about?
Thank you very much for replying. I am going to look into that. I hoped you would know. I live near some mixed woods containing pines. I am beginning to notice that they are not exactly thriving but I may be too pessimistic. I"ll write again when I know more.
Happy to share what I know. I live in Canada and I am still learning about the thousands of species of plants and trees here so it is hard to keep a comprehensive list in my head for tree species in other countries as well. If you send some pictures of the trees and close ups of the needles/foliage in high resolution I may be able to help identify them.
Gavin! We're so in sync! I'm laughing because I just left you a comment on my thread about the trees being cut down and asked if you'd ever read Diana's book "To Speak for the Trees!" I LOVE the book and the documentary SO MUCH! I'm going to savor this article because the Eastern White Pine is near and dear to my heart. I love to slather her oil on me and drink her tea, and I see you have lots of other ideas! :)
I really do love White Pines, the way they grow with such unique graceful branching structure allows them to really 'speak for the landscape' (telling the story of prevailing wind patterns and soil types) through their form.
Please forgive the fact that the article is a bit tangential as I added on material over time and it may have interrupted the original flow of how I wrote it.
Wishing you many peaceful and nourishing walks and moments spent amongst our beloved White Pine friends :)
I'm sure the Spirit of White Pine loves how in-depth you go into her many wonders! And so do I. I learned a lot from your article. I'm so blessed to have so many here on the land and a Grandfather and Grandmother Pine right alongside my driveway. I talk to them during windstorms hoping they can stand steady because my wee house and car are right there alongside them. :) 🌲🌲🌲
wonderful article, thank you! Do you know anything about pine trees in the Netherlands?
Greetings Wendel!
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it.

We are most certainly on the same wavelength :)
