The Mounsey Minute (Episode 12) Gift Economics
This post shares a video slide show with this month's Media Monarchy broadcast that featured Gift Economics as the topic for December
We live in a world of abundant gifts my friends, any outward appearance of something otherwise is a combination of other propaganda that is twisting your mind from it’s natural state and/or twisted minds temporarily distorting/destabilizing the natural abundance through their exploitative centralized systems.
Gift economics can be observed in a leaf that drinks up the starlight and then transforms it into food and gives it away, in a bee visiting a flower, in a mother offering her breast milk to her baby, in the kindness of the person that reaches out their hand to help up a fallen stranger and in each breath you take that was gifted to you by the trees, the plankton and myriad other beings that created the oxygen we need to live.
This month on the Mounsey Minute we explore the various manifestations and potentials of the gift economy and “gift thinking”.
Thank you in advance for the gift of your attention, your time and thank you for caring enough to want to make this world a better place through recognizing and sharing your own unique God given gifts.

Their monthly membership fee is not that much but it goes a long way to support their important works, shining a light on ugly truths, sharing empowering perspectives, showcasing modern society’s hilarious absurdities and highlighting actionable decentralized solutions as well. Supporting people that do good work and share it for free is an excellent example of gift economics in action.

Book Club Update: My friends, writing the 11 species Pine Family article took a lot out of me (time-wise and having to do another deep dive into the insane behavior of humans in destroying the last few intact primary forest ecosystems where we live) and it has been a long year (the first year in my life I did not manage to make time to get into the wilderness in summer due to multiple four legged friends getting sick simultaneously and requiring my care and attention at the time I had booked for a vacation at work). FYI, we live in southern Ontario where 99.9% of the forest has been chopped down for hundreds of kilometers in all directions and I define “wilderness” as a place where no one on a road or in/near a permanent human dwelling could hear you if you yelled at the top of your lungs.
Thus, I am going to take some time to go into the little patches of woods we have left here in southern Ontario more often (and hopefully trek up north to where larger intact forests still exist in Ontario) to re-charge, ground, center, heal and rejuvenate my spirit. Thus, in the interest of doing the Mycelium Running review justice by giving it the time and attention it deserves, I will not be rushing through finishing that review this month but rather, aligning my rhythms with the seasons and slowing down, and taking another swing at finishing the review next month as the light and my energy increases. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I look forward to reviewing the remainder and hearing what you all think of the book next month.
Gavin. I just want to say again how humbled I am to be mentioned out of a sea of fantastic and wonderful people who support your work and the principals you stand for. I am just trying to follow the great example you set for us. Having stewardship in the land and our impact on our little micro universe is more important than I had ever thought about. The gift economy is something I hope more people accept. Even though I was able to share my harvest, I still had plenty I was unable to give away. I even offered to put bags on my porch so people wouldn't feel the pressure to have to meet a new person or have a conversation. Lots of people who I know could have used my bounty but were unwilling to allow me to give some to them. I somehow wonder if so much virtual interconnectedness makes some people not want an actual in person experience they can't shut off in an instant when the attention span runs out. Still there was satisfaction on what I could do. Please know how much it means to have my name mentioned in the context of your article and your spot on MM. I hope you guys have a fantastic holiday season and I am ready to send you some seeds. Be well my friend and keep doing the heavy lifting for betterment of all of us!!
