No photography post this month but here is a buffet of food for the soul to hold you over
a collection of links to my monthly posts that share my photography, a dear friend's post and some music
I have been busy engaging with regenerators, actionable solution innovators and trail blazers at a Conference and doubling down on my research and experimentation for my next book this month and so I have not been out and about as much as I should have been in the forest to take pictures.
I will not be sharing a photography post this month but if you are craving some nature photography I have compiled all my past photography posts for easy browsing below :)
The Magic Of May
Hey Everyone! I am going to begin a new series of posts in which once a month I (attempt to) share some of my photography to give you a glimpse of why I find gardening and observing/learning from nature to not only provide medicine and nourishment for our bodies but also healing for the heart and food for the soul.
The Jubilation Of June
June is a month that explodes into a rainbow of berries, colorful amaranth greens and medicinal herbs b…
Joyous July
In July the blossoms and berries in our garden become Even More Abundant than in June! We are also gifted an abundance of colorful peppers and heirloom tomatoes which give us an excellent palette for painting poetry for the senses on culinary canvases. It is a time when we are visited by hundreds of thousands o…
Auspicious August
In our garden the month of August is a month where the inherent potential in a handful of heirloom seeds (which were planted in the spring) reaches a crescendo of potential. This crescendo of potential is unlocked when heirloom seeds are combined with living soil, water, sunshine and love
Serendipitous September
September is a month filled with garden harvests and the refreshing whispers of autumn. It is a month where we harvest shelling beans, sunflowers, goji berries, paw paw fruit, squash, cannabis, apples, herbs and sweet potatoes. As the cooler nights increase in (typically latter half of September) the Creator begins to paint the leaves with touches of vi…
October's Optimism
Warm Greetings from the brisk autumn climes of southern Ontario everyone! October is a month of vibrant autumn colors, abundant Goji berry, ginger and medicinal herb harvests in our garden and backyard. I like to stroll through the woods and practice my tree identification skills allowing the geometry of the colorful and decomposing leaves to educate me …
Nourishing November
In November my efforts to save seed intensify and deepen my pattern recognition and observational skills as I walk through garden and forest observing what trees and medicine plants have decided they are ready to bestow their ripe seeds upon the fertile Earth. I look upward into the towering reaches of tulip and oak trees to see if they have begun to re…
December's Delight
"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it." -John Burroughs December, where we live, is typically a month in which the precipitation is rain and some years, if we are lucky, some snow. I tend to do lots of preserving of cold hardy crops via fermentation, …
For those that feel cheated of an exploration of the beauty that January has to offer, look no further than this beautiful post from my soul sister Barbara:
For those who missed my talk at the R-Future Conference and are curious what I had to share, here is a youtube link where you can watch it:
Some of you may have noticed that I have been exploring my Druidic and Celtic heritage a bit and I recently learned how at one point in history the Imperial Statists that set up shop on the British Isles attempted to erase that aspect of my cultural heritage by hunting down and killing all the Irish and Scottish Harpists, Bards and Poets.
Thus, in honor of those the brave story tellers, rhymers and covert harpists of the highlands that persevered, preserving glimpses of a trail map that is both ancient and socially advanced, and can help us find sign posts as we trail blaze towards a more regenerative, honest, equitable, compassionate and hopeful future I will conclude this post by sharing the following:
Dear Gavin, Thank you so much for sharing my love of January! So many people see it as bleak and dark and cold and boring, which admittedly it can be :), but I just love the stillness of it.
That rendition of "The Gael" from "Last of the Mohicans" gave me goosebumps. Just today, I happened upon a video of the Scottish Highlands and I literally felt homesick. I wanted to move to Scotland the first time I visited her. Pretty sure I've lived some lives there. Both Ireland and Scotland reside firmly in my heart.
Thanks for sharing your chat about regenerative farming, etc. In 2020, when I was still living in the city, my local farmer's market started putting yellow tape around the perimeter so no one could get in without a mask. Quiet little old me marched in there, maskless, and every week would be asked to leave. When I flat out refused one week, they threatened to revoke the license of the organic farmer whose stand I frequented. And so, I left. What a bizarre time that was.
Much love from your soul sister in New Hampshire! 💚
