Poll Of The Month: If you were given the deed to 7 acres of land anywhere in the world where would you choose to live?
March, 2025's poll in the Mirrors For The Mind, Heart and Soul series
This month we are gonna check the pulse on where people (spread out across 99 countries) see as the most ideal place to build their forever home and set down roots.
This is something we have been contemplating as we look to buy land away from high population centers build a forever home and set up our homestead. While we obviously cannot choose wherever or as much land as we want, I have found exploring the above thought experiment to be useful in illuminating our priorities, highlighting problematic trends to avoid and discovering climate and topographical analogs to our preferred locations as possible alternatives.
Our criteria used to be pretty strait forward for our dream property:
- at least 7 acres (it is not ideal, 40 would be better, but we are not rich and I can make 7 work a lot better than our current 1/4 acre where we can already grow most of the food we need to live)
- varying topography that allows for taking advantage of letting gravity do some work for us with water sequestration, energy generation and having a flowing stream.
- at least half of the property being forested
- if there are conventional farms pressed against the property, we would have to know the owners do not grow GMOs nor spray poison like glyphosate on their crops
- mountains within one day’s walking distance
- a growing zone/soil type that allows for applying regenerative agroforestry (likely syntropic agroforestry) knowledge and techniques in a productive manner.
But that was a decade ago, now we live in the world of hyper-”sustainable” development and aggressive lithium/cobalt mining so the oligarchs can build their death trap e-vehicles, "C-IRG" corporate mercenary RCMP being payed 100$ an hour to assault forcibly removed people from their lands so that Fracking oil corporations can poison the land, armies of autonomous lithium powered killing machines, AI industrial Data-center Mega server farms, IQ levels dropping precipitously among AI chatbot addicts and VR goggle wearing zombie filled smart cities.
So now I have to cross reference properties we had previously had our eye on with lithium “exploration” discoveries and mining corporation purchase maps, look at the watersheds those operations will feed into and calculate the likelihood that all the arsenic, sulphuric acid and radioactive mining tailings that they`ll dump into the rivers and ground water will be able to reach our prospective property (and plan accordingly).
We live in times of great upheaval and uncertainty where the clowns in government are trying to tariff each other to death, the corporations that dominate those clowns are trying to “sustainably develop” (aka clearcut and blast into rubble) much of the remaining forests and pristine lakes/rivers up north and down south to get at the lithium, idiotic exploitative industrial logging operations that cut down biodiverse fire resistant old growth trees and replant forest fire starting/intensifying monocultures are spreading, the 5G microwave grid is moving into lower population centers, The EU is creating its own army/setting up its own nuclear deterrence and transgenic GMO agriculture is contaminating soil, air and water at alarming rates.
All the institutions we have been raised to trust and respect are trying to herd us into cities with bribes, threats and vague promises of a high tech UN/global government controlled “sustainable development” utopia.
Many of us are now trying to consider all of those variables (and more) when doing recon for a dream property so in light of this I thought a poll might be helpful so we can all honestly access this together and spark discussion.
So, if money was no object, and you were able to be gifted a 7 acre parcel of land anywhere on Earth that you would “legally” “own” (steward for your lifetime) what region would you choose?
FYI: I added some interesting maps below that you may want to look at before voting.
(I am not gonna list 500 possible locations to try and accommodate many of the likely choice regions so i’ll do about 20 below and then if you want to elaborate on more specifics to promote constructive discussion you can do so in a comment. For the continent I live on, I`ll use the term Turtle Island to refer to the land mass, rather than the name of a human trafficking psychopath. So, “North West Coast of Turtle Island, for instance, would refer to the land most call “B.C., Canada”.)
Please only choose one out of these 25 options (and then elaborate on your choice as to why and more location specifics in a comment)
Check out these maps that came up when I tried to look for “best places to live on Earth”.
I found the types of data sets that were presented to me to be very telling and quite creepy.
Firstly, they showed me lists and maps of “the most livable cities”

Why are these google algorithms tryna herd me into a city? I did not ask about cities.
According to one of my past polls, apparently, very few people have any interest in living in a city, yet these behavior modification “search engines” and widespread AI smart city “utopia” propaganda videos keep tryna convince us how much we should want to live in a city.
For some interesting thoughts on the how governments attempt to brainwash people into living in cities, glorify them and thoughts on how governments accomplish this by pushing the myth of “progress” which built upon the oversimplified myth of “primitivism”, read:
For some additional thoughts on how industrial civilisation’s cities are glorified in order to induct more tax chattel, watch:
Then it gets even creepier and the search results start showing me this Orwellian sounding data set called DQL index (Digital Quality of Life Index) which is defined as “being calculated by examining the impact of five core pillars: internet affordability, internet quality, e-infrastructure, e-security, and e-government.”
Electronic Governance, how dependant the infrastructure is on computers and how much microwave (and other artificial EMF) radiation a place is being dosed with (pervasive internet “availability”) as a measure of “quality of life”!? No thanks, but I suppose those of us that have zero interest in Algorithmic (“AI”) governance, dependance on flimsy hyper-centralized grids and being plugged into 5G internet speeds 24/7 can use this data to reverse engineer some helpful info.
We can avoid the countries with the highest rating DQL index if possible! I see that Canada went down two rankings in “Electronic-Governance” since 2023 according to data in the map shown below, so while I may not be able to afford to move out of country even if I wanted to, perhaps Canada’s sliding DQL index is something I can be optimistic about! :)

Then the algorithms give this propaganda article and these maps on the UN`s “Human Development Index” (HDI).
The “HDI” is calculated by taking the geometric mean of normalized indices for each of the three dimensions: health (life expectancy at birth), education (mean years of schooling and expected years of schooling), and standard of living (gross national income per capita).
Well, life expectancy seems like a pretty solid one, but then again, the UN is best buddies with the WHO, which is a den of manipulative profiteering vipers, so their life expectancy numbers are likely skewed to promote Big Pharma compliance and they likely exclude places that have fantastic life expectancy (yet have a low amount of people buying into big pharma propaganda living there). So, given the source of that data, I would say that is also suspect here.
For more info on the WHO:
But those second two, education (mean years of schooling and expected years of schooling), and standard of living (gross national income per capita) wow, those have a lot to unpack.
So this UN metric assumes that more quantity of years in government recognized (and likely regulated) educational institutions equals a more advanced form of “development”? Development of what? A mindless army of obedient, servile, compliant soldiers, underpaid medial repetitive industrial labor workers and tax chattel? If so, perhaps their metrics are accurate.
For more on the origin of and real purpose of government public education systems:
And “gross national income” being a measure of “standard of living”?
(GNI, previously known as gross national product (GNP) is the gross domestic product, plus net receipts from abroad of compensation of employees, property income and net taxes less subsidies on production.)
Here is a short video that offers one perspective on what GNP (aka GNI) actually means:
So, the higher the wages, property taxes and income taxes the better the “standard of living”? The faster a country converts the living diverse world into a monoculture of dead uniform commodities, the higher the “standard of living” ?
What a twisted and sick way of looking at the world these UN people are trying to promote. Well, again, at least the disgusting, anthropocentric, exploitative and megalomaniacal people behind the “HDI” have given me another indicator of places I would like to avoid if possible.
Here is another interesting map worth considering:

Other maps worth considering:

And here is a piece on: “Canadian mining companies guilty of violating rights of nature” and
“Mining company charged 10 years after spilling toxic waste into B.C. waters”
“Mining industry hails B.C. plan to expedite projects amid Trump tariff threat”
and'
“Water scientists warns of arsenic buildup in water pit after Quebec lithium mine closes”
“in Quebec, An Act to Amend the Mining Act and other provisions”
And here is what one guy thinks on “World Map of The Most Beautiful Countries, Through The Eyes of a Man Who Visited Them All”
Okay that is all I have for you today my friends.
I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on your reason for voting for what ever option you chose in the comments section to promote constructive discussion.
Thank you in advance to those who are taking the time to vote and comment to promote constructive discussion and hold up a candle to the mirror.
and just for fun, here is this
An island close to the equator, Pacific, maybe an uncharted island in the Indonesian Archipelago. Preferably with a small volcano, or volcanic soil. The poll didn't say where the island was, so I figure I get to choose. The older I get, and the more weight I lose, the more the cold bothers me. I want a warm beach, some jungle to clear out a patch to grow in, using all the wonderful compost from the jungle and volcanic soil. A running stream from snowmelt from the peak of the volcano, year round, plus ponds from tropical rains. No internet, no politics, and just a few people. I do want electricity though.
I'd move to somewhere in Russia that has a reasonably benign climate, no cities for miles and I'd disappear.
